Willard Ray McIntosh, 69, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at his residence.
He was born May 27, 1937 in Lee County, KY, the son of James Monroe and Ophelia (Stacy) McIntosh. He worked in the water well construction in the oil fields.
Survivors are his wife Welda Elaine (Sparks) McIntosh of Beattyville, KY; children, Dennis Ray McIntosh, David McIntosh (Amy), Danny McIntosh (Leah), all of Middletown, OH, Tonya Molnar (Robert) of Miamisburg, OH; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two brothers, Wesley Paul McIntosh of Beattyville, KY, Miles Winfred McIntosh of Wayne, MI; sisters, Brenda Joyce Hamilton of Ypsilanti, MI, Mary Frances Thomas of Beattyville, KY.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother, James Martin McIntosh and a sister, Dana Jean Morgan.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the McIntosh Cemetery on Rock of Ages Road.
Pallbearers will be Danny Hogan, Walt Dennis, Randall Sparks, Junior Tipton, Hargis Ross, David Ross, Joe Howell and Nelson Mays.
M. ELOISE CAMPBELL
M. Eloise (Wilson) Campbell, 79, passed away May 2, 2007.
She was born in Hazard, KY, the daughter of the late Pearl (Whisman) and Howard Whisman formerly of Cressmont, Lee County, KY.
She was the cherished wife of Archie Campbell and the late Junior Harry Grosheim, beloved mother of Carolyn Moler, Linda Smith, Donna Surber, Connie Shipp, Ken Grosheim and ex-mother-in-law to Becky Luehrmann; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; four step children and 18 step grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park of Evendale, OH on May 4, 2007.

BOBBIE WILBUR WHISMAN
Bobbie Wilbur Whisman, 77, passed away May 12, 2007 at Fort Thomas, KY.
He was the son of the late Ida May Whisman Campbell, formerly of Lee County, KY, and a retired truck driver, Army master sergeant and veteran of World War II. He served as Post Commander and past Adjutant General of American Legion Post 20, Elsmere, KY, was a member of VFW Post 6432, Erlanger, KY, and was a member of Morgan Field F&AM Masonic Temple, Fort Breckenridge, KY.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Brown. Survivors include his wife, Julia Whisman; daughter Susan Whisman; sister Barbara Yelton; two grandsons and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was Monday, May 14, 2007, at Don Catchen and Sons Funeral Homes, Elsmere, KY with burial at Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Beaver, KY, on May 15, 2007.

Theresa Kay Neeley, 38, of Florence, KY, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, KY.
She was born on August 4, 1968, in Ft. Thomas, KY, to the late Jack Tye and Shirley (Adams) Neeley. She was a homemaker, waitress and cook for Ryans Steak House in Florence, KY, and attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Chelcia Kemper of Falmouth, KY; four brothers, Jack Tye Neeley Jr. and Matthew Neeley both of Florence, KY, Mark Neeley of Williamstown, KY and David Neeley of Independence, KY; five sisters, Debbie Elliott and Kim Sebree both of Burlington, KY, Tammy Final of Stamping Ground, KY, Ruby Davis of Walton, KY and April Couch of Crittendon, KY and a host of friends and relatives.
Memorial services were held Friday, May 18, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Becknell/Neeley Cemetery, with the Rev. J. Jamison Brunk officiating. The Booneville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Raymond Brewer, 68, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at Beechwood Home, Cincinnati, OH.
He was born September 10, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Clyde and Catherine (Palmer) Brewer. He was a Navy veteran and member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors are his mother Catherine Palmer Brewer of Cincinnati, OH; two uncles, Seldon Palmer Jr. of Cincinnati, OH, Albert Palmer of Beattyville, KY; and cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mike Weglicki officiating. Burial will be in the Palmer Cemetery at Athol, KY.

Josephine Caudill Fox, 73 of Lee County Care & Rehab Center passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Lee County Care & Rehab Center.
She was born December 21, 1932 in Lee County, KY the daughter of Arch and Mary Keller Caudill. She was a homemaker and member of the Long Shoal Community Church.
Survivors are her husband Tom Fox of Beattyville, KY; children, Glenna McIntosh and Freda Bailey both of Beattyville, KY, Lawrence Fox of Georgetown, KY, and Virginia Fox of St. Helens, KY; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Drexell Caudill of Lily, KY, Wayne Caudill of Beattyville, KY, Billy Caudill of Lexington, KY; sister, Shirley Combs of Lexington, KY.
She was preceded in death by parents and one brother, Willard Caudill.

He was born January 18, 1945 in Curt, KY, the son of Artha (Hollan) and Ova McIntosh, Sr. He was an oil well driller, Navy Veteran and member of the Panco Community Church and the Pentecostal Church of the Living God.

Mae Lena Gross Addison, 62, widow of Clifford Ray Addison, of Beattyville, KY, passed away Monday, January 23, 2006 at Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond, KY.
She was born April 7, 1943 in Lee County, KY, the daughter of Henry and Delmmer (Mays) Gross. She was a homemaker and attended the Beartrack Bible Church.
Survivors are children, Josephine Addison and Iva Addison both of Berea, KY, James C. Addison of Beattyville, KY; brother, Francis Gross of Beattyville, KY; sisters, Davada Russell, Jean Eversole and Joyce Bundy all of Cincinnati, OH, Charlotte Chadwell of Batesville, IN; grandchildren, Marlena Addison of Berea, KY, Thomas Addison II and Bertha Megan Addison both of Irvine, KY, Timothy James Addison and Austin James Addison both of Beattyville, KY; great granddaughter, Madison Hoover of Berea, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clifford Ray Addison, one son-Thomas Lee Addison, two sisters, Ruby Keaney and Ersie Charles and two brothers, Elmo and Tracy Gross.

ARTHUR OAKS
Arthur Oaks, 79, of Jackson, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at his residence of a long illness.
He was the son of the late Jerry and Mandy Oaks and the husband of Louise McIntosh Oaks of Jackson, KY for 53 years. Mr. Oaks was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Whick and former University of KY employee.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce and Gary Horton of Beattyville, KY, Janet and Darrell Akers of Jackson, KY; four sons, Curtis Ray and Rita Oaks of Jackson, KY, George and Delora Oaks of Stanton, KY, William Douglas Oaks and special friend, Shirley Miller of Jackson, KY, Randy and Rose Oaks of Lexington, KY; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Moore officiating. Burial was in the Oaks Cemetery, Lick Branch Road.
ZOLA MISHOWE
Zola Estes Mishowe, 84, passed away in Orlando, FL, January 21, 2006.
She was the daughter of Jasper and Lillie Mae Tipton Estes. She was born February 12, 1921 in Lee County, KY. She was married to Kenneth Mishowe of the U.S. Air Force and lived in several different states. She had been a resident of Orlando, FL for more than thirty years. She passed away in Orlando after suffering a heart attack. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Olive Christian Church.
Survivors are one sister Patsy Estes Borgomainerio of Paris, KY; two brothers, Norris Estes of Beattyville passed away September 1980 and Clay Estes of Miamisburg, OH passed away October 1992. She is also survived by six nieces, Eugemia Borgomainerio Scurlock, Teresa Borgomainerio Freeman, Renaa Borgomainerio, Annette Estes Traft, Sherry Estes and Nancy Estes; five nephews, Darrell, Richard, Greg and Gary Estes and Russell Borgomainerio and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in Orlando, FL on January 23, 2006 and in Beattyville on January 25th with Glenn Wilson and Wade Moss Huges officiating. Burial was in the Estes Family Cemetery in the Mt. Olive community of Lee County, KY.
DOUGLAS W. MAPES
Douglas W. Mapes, 54, of Middletown, OH, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.
He was born November 7, 1951 in Fremont, OH. Doug was a Vietnam combat veteran serving with the 23rd Infantry Division (American) from 1970-73.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Mapes and Albert and Velma Angel and by two brothers, Steven Angel and Robert Mapes.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Mapes; three daughters, Shannon Mapes of Franklin, OH, Roxanne Mapes of Lexington, KY and Joyce Mapes of Peebles, OH; two sons, Douglas (Mandy) Mapes Jr. of Crane Hill, Al and James Mapes of Peebles, OH; two stepsons, Christian Mays of Middletown, OH and Eric Mays of Fairfield, OH; five brothers, Neal (Roxanne) Angel of Athol, KY, William Angel of Booneville, KY; Donald (Sherri) Angel, Bobby (Heather) Angel and Kenneth (Lisa) Angel all of Middletown, OH; three sisters, Laura (Ronald) Deuser of Middletown, OH, Janice Mapes and Carol Mapes both of Fremont, OH; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Watts Funeral Home in Jackson, KY, conducted by Rev. Randall Amburgy with burial in the Hensley-Angel Cemetery in Athol, KY. Exceptional Color Guard service provided by DAV Post 63 from Hazard, KY.
Doug will be missed by all his loving family and friends.

Charles Elvoy Damrel, 85, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Lee County, KY, husband of Katherine (Breeding) Damrel, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 17, 2006.
He was born April 28, 1920, in Ida May, KY, to the late Oscar and Bertie (Burns) Damrel. He was a retired employee of the Wiser Oil Company in Clay County, KY; a U.S. Army Veteran having served in WWII, and a member of the Oneida Baptist Church and the Ida May Bible Church.
Along with his wife of 64 years, he will be missed by one son, Michael Breeding (&Ida) Damrel of Shelbyville, KY; two daughters, Carol Boscheinen of Lexington, KY, and Linda Swafford of Fort Myers, FL; a former son-in-law, Fred Boscheinen of Lexington, KY; one sister, Emma Morgan of FL; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Charles Damrel.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry States officiating. Burial was in the South Irvine Cemetery, Irvine, KY.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Barbara J. Moore Frye, 60, of Beattyville, KY, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at Lee County Care and Rehab. Center.
She was born September 8, 1945 in Lee County, KY, the daughter of Jim and Hazel (Charles) Moore. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband, Harold M. Frye; children, Robin Turner, Mike Frye both of Stanton, KY, Sherri Baker an Ronda Baker both of Booneville, KY; mother, Hazel Charles Moore of Beattyville, KY; brothers, James C. Moore and Paul Moore both of Beattyville, KY; sisters, Virginia Smallwood, Mildred Moore, Madge Moore and Juanita McGuire all of Beattyville, KY; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Mooretown Church of Christ with Bro. L.C. Moore officiating. Burial was in the Moore Cemetery on Mooretown Road with Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Elva (Adams) Sebastian Baker, 89, of Booneville, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.
She was born June 24, 1916 in Morris Fork, KY, to the late Ezekial and Aamanda (Morris) Adams. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Morris Fork Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Dorothy Wray of Booneville, KY, Betty (& Gene) Gillespie of Tavares, FL; four grandchildren, Melanie (& Silas) Thomas, Tracy Gazzara of Booneville, KY, Mark (& Candy) and Keith (& Michelle) Gazzara, all of Hamilton, OH; one brother, Greenberry Adams; six great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, Calloway Sebastian and Edward D. Baker, Sr. and four brothers, Wilbur, Lee, Wilson and Amerida.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Burial was in the Calloway Sebastian Cemetery in Booneville, KY.

CLIFFORD G. RIFFLE
Clifford G. Riffle, 80, of Leeco, KY, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.
He was born November 1, 1925 in Waterloo, WVA, to the late Roscoe and Opal Riffle. He was orphaned at age 7 and was raised and educated at the KSP Boys Home in Clarksburg, WVA. After graduating at age 15, he walked to the nearest recruiting office and enlisted in the US Navy. With a dream and an eager desire to succeed, he became a Naval Aviator during World War II at age 17. During this tour of duty he was shot down by enemy fire and after surviving three days in the South Pacific, was rescued by a US destroyer. He retired as a Naval Lt. Commander after 25 years of service. Upon retirement, he joined the Army Corp. of Engineers in Washington, DC as a copilot for the US Secretary of the Navy. During this service he displayed, once again, his bravery and self-sacrifice when his airplane overshot the runway and slid into the Potomac River. He evacuated all passengers onto the wing of the aircraft, enabling them to be rescued from the sinking plane. While recovering at home on a two week sick leave, he received a call from President John F. Kennedy, praising him for saving the US Secretary of the Navy and his family without any regard for his own safety. He later piloted Sen. Barry Goldwater throughout the country during his presidential campaign, as well as many celebrity passengers. He became a private pilot for PMI Corp. in Maryland and later came to Wolfe County as a private pilot for Charles Rudolph who owned Carindal Coal Col. He became an entrepreneur in eastern Kentucky in the field of oil, gas and coal. He retired from Peoples Exchange Bank in Beattyville after 20 years of service. He continued to pilot until his mid-seventies. He was a member of the Zoe First Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Jodie; four sons, Clay (Maria) Riffle of Adamstown, MD, Keith (Robin) Riffle of Indianhead, MD, Steve (Irene) Riffle of Fredrick, MD, and Monte (Susan) Hobbs of Leeco, KY; two daughters, Karen (Kenny) Cornwall of Adamstown, MD and Vicky Short of Beattyville, KY; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild: Jennifer, Heather, Tayler, Colin, Kelly, Grant, Stephanie, Melanie and Natalie all of Maryland, and Christopher, Montana, Martin and Grant, all of Kentucky; one brother, Russsell Riffle; two sisters, Helen Beto and Millie Ward all of West Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one son, Timothy Hobbs, and two sisters, Edie Osborne and Millie Ward.
Cliff was a beloved member of our community and lived every day of his life. When asked how he was, he would always says, “Better than I deserve.”
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 15, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Zoe First Church of God. A private burial was held with Wells Funeral Home in Stanton in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Clay Riffle, Steve Riffle, Ralph Stamper, Gen. Charles Beach Jr., David Ratliff, and Martin Hobbs.

Rebecca (Byrd) Allen, 83, widow of Carlo Allen, passed away Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, KY.
She was born January 9, 1923 in Clay County, KY, to the late Sherman and Leotta (Hill) Byrd. She was a homemaker; a retired cook for the Owsley County Board of Education and a member of the First Baptist Church of Island City.
Survivors include one son, Glen Allen, and one daughter, Violet Combs both of Island City, KY; two brothers, Eugene Byrd of Island City, KY, and Thomas Byrd of Sextons Creek, KY; one sister, Margaret Barrett of Booneville, KY; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 15, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Island City, with Rev. Harold Becknell officiating. Burial was in the Allen Cemetery, Island City, KY.

Butler Congleton, 91, of Booneville, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, KY.
He was born April 17, 1914 in Lee County, KY, the son of the late Enos and Mertie Belle (Hall) Congleton. He was a electrician, an Army Veteran of WWII, and member of the Christian Church.
Survivors are two sisters, Elizabeth C. Caudill of Nicholasville, KY, Nancye C. Stamper of Beattyville, KY; one brother, Luther P. Congleton of Booneville, KY; nephew John P. West of Beattyville, KY; stepdaughters, Faye Gamstetter of TN, Estelle Brock of Hamilton, OH; daughter-in-law, Peggy Robinson of Hamilton, OH.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Naomi C. West, Veda C. Brandes, Clyde C. Congleton, Norman D. Congleton, Russell E. Congleton and Graydon Congleton.

Dempsey Smith, 71, of Waco, KY, husband of Nadine (Gabbard) Smith, passed away Monday, January 2, 1006 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
He was born in Manchester, KY, on April 2, 1934 to the late Evan and Fannie (Middleton) Smith. He served in the U.S. Army, was a self employed carpenter, a former guard for the Army Depot, and attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 25 years, Nadine Smith; one son, Dempsey Dewayne (Crystal) Smith of Richmond, KY; three grandchildren, DeEtta Cheyenne Smith, Kyle Chandler Smith, Tyler Brent Carmack; one brother, Estill Smith of Booneville, KY; four sisters, Desi Barrett of South Lebanon, OH, Pauline Smith of Dayton, OH, Shirley Sanders of Louisville, KY, Bonnie Smith of Cape Coral, FL; and a host of relatives and friends.

Emily “Pat” McQuillin, 76, of Dean, TX passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2005 in Wichita Falls. Private family services will be held at a later date.
She was born November 29, 1929 to Nathaniel and Grace (Palmer) Terry in Lee County, KY. She married Charles McQuillin in 1969 in Las Vegas, NV and was a retired waitress.
Survivors include her husband, Charles McQuillin, one daughter, Terry Xenias of Dean; two sons, Jack Barnhill of Dean and Eddie Barnhill of California; one sister, Ruby Jodon of Akron, OH; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Dean Alan Gabbard, 50, of Dayton, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at his residence.
He was president of the Derelicts Motorcycle club, a member of the Moose Lodge of Beavercreek, a member of Alpha Lodge #729 F&AM, Mt. Moriah Chapter #230 RAM, AASR Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, where he was a very active member; a member of the Fairborn American Legion Post and the Fairborn VFW and was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam era. He was the grandson of the late Medford and Ethel Gabbard and the late Jesse and Beatrice Alexander of Beattyville, KY. He was loved very much and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cheryl; parents, Clarence and Irene Gabbard of Dayton, OH; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Andrew Shanefield of PA, Dawn Gabbard of Riverside, Cassandra and Mike Osborne of Fairborn, OH; two sons, Justin Delaney of Dayton, and Jeremiah Gabbard of FL; sister, Denise West; brother and sisters-in-law, Van and Sue, Jeff and Nicki, Sean and Heather; four grandchildren, Hannah and Evelyn Shanefield and Christopher and Matthew Osborne.
Funeral services were held in Dayton, OH.
