PAUL “BO” WILLIS
Paul “Bo” Willis, 83, of Beattyville, KY, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005, at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1922 in Powell County, KY, the son of Rice and Manda (Wooders) Willis. He was a worker with Wiser Oil Company (retired), an Army Veteran of World War II and member of the Torrent Church of God.
Survivors are his wife, Ada (Combs) Willis of Beattyville, KY; two grandsons, Neil Lee Rogers of Beattyville, KY, Richard Paul Rogers of Winchester, KY; one sister, Sue Childers of Campton, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Regina Lee Rogers.
Funeral services for Bo Willis were held Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at the Torrent Church of God with Rev. James Clark and Rev. David Booth officiating. Burial will be in the Cable-Bowman Cemetery at Zachariah with Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were James Combs, Ron Combs, Sherrill Bush, Elmer Whisman, David Creech and Gerald Childers.
TRUMAN S. CONGLETON SR.
Truman S. Congleton Sr., 81, of Beattyville, KY, widower of Margaret (Smith) Congleton, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005 at his residence.
He was born August 9, 1923 in Beattyville, KY, the son of Gentry P. and Pearl (Seale) Congleton. He was a member of the Beattyville Christian Church where he has served as deacon, member of the Beattyville Kiwanis Club for 50 plus years, member of American Legion for 60 plus years, member Proctor Lodge #213 F&AM, Beattyville Chapter of #231 O.E.S., treasurer of Beattyville Country Club, director of Peoples Exchange Bank, director of the Lee County Personal Care Home, a Navy Veteran of World War II, and owner of Congleton Brothers Inc. of Beattyville, KY.
Survivors are one daughter, Ann Oleksowicz and husband Vern of St. Cloud, MN; three sons, Truman S. Congleton, Jr. and wife Lynda of Beattyville, KY, Walter Park Congleton and wife Irene of Franklin, TN, Edward Scott Congleton and wife Jamie of Beattyville, KY; eight grandchildren, Camille Plowman, Beth Congleton, Paige Drew, Bryan Congleton, Matthew Oleksowicz, John Oleksowicz, Trey Congleton and Jermey Congleton; two great grandsons, Mason Drew and Carter Drew.
Funeral services for Truman Congleton were held Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Beattyville Christian Church with Minister Jeff Porter officiating. Burial, with military rites by Three Forks Post #11296, V.F.W., was in the Congleton Cemetery on Hwy. 587, with Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Curtis Davis, E.T. Kash, John Paul West, Matthew Oleksowicz, John Oleksowicz and Bryan Congleton. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Congleton and Kenneth Isaacs.
RONNIE DALE MOORE
Ronnie Dale Moore, 55, of Beattyville, KY, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Flemingsburg, KY.
He was born April 5, 1950 in Lee County, KY, the son of Arch and Norena (Crouch) Moore. He was employed in the oil and fuel business.
Survivors are four children, Randall Scott Moore and wife Victoria of Irvine, KY, Shelly Rose Morgan of London, KY, Fredrick Dale Frost Moore and Tiffany Renae Moore both of Beattyville, KY; grandchildren, Jessica Anne Moore, Sarah Rose Moore, Jessie Cheyenne Moore, Amber Gail Elaine Morgan, Angelica Frost Moore, Eli Jack Cooper Moore; four brothers, Dillard Moore, Willis Moore, Archie Lee Moore all of Beattyville, KY, Tyler Moore of Osgood, IN; four sisters, Cleta Mae Palmer of Franklin, OH, Mary Miller of Osgood, IN, Geneva Stamper of Carlisle, OH, Alta Ruth Quicksall of Osgood, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bert Moore, a sister, Brenda Gail Stamper and a niece, Alice Faye Moore Sons.
Funeral services for Ronnie Moore were held Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Adams officiating. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery, Beattyville, KY.
Pallbearers were Tom Jones, James Ray Coomer, Damon Moore, Archie Allan Moore, Mark Palmer, Steve Stamper and John Taylor.
GAILE ELLEN THOMAS WHIPPLE
Gaile Ellen Thomas Whipple, 55, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at the Marymount Medical Center in London, KY.
She was born June 23, 1950 in Whittler, CA, to Virgil H. Thomas of Vincent, KY and the late Dorces M. (Sharp) Thomas. She was a former housekeeper and attended the Church of Christ.
Along with her father, she is survived by her special companion, Richard Mims of Vincent, KY; one son, James Spangler of Reno, NV; one daughter, Joy Marie Taylor of Vincent, KY; one brother, Seven Paul Thomas of CA; two grandsons, Joshua and Caleb; and a host of friends and relatives.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 4 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Walton officiating.
RACHEL CAMPBELL ALLEN
Rachel Campbell Allen, 80, passed away July 27,2005, at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY after a short illness.
She was born in Perry County on September 20, 1924, and departed this life at the age of 80 years, ten months and seven days. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Mission Church at Rowdy, KY, and was a former nurses aid. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Orleana Hall Campbell.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Chambers and husband, James Lee of Beattyville, KY, Geneivive Brewer and husband Gary Paul of Jackson, KY; one sister, Elvira “Till” Campbell, Airy, KY; three grandchildren, Darrius Merreno Campbell and his wife Cindy Diane Campbell, Rachel Emmaline Chambers and Jimmy Lee Chambers; one great grandchild, Darrius Nicholas Campbell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2005 at the Bethany Baptist Mission Church at Rowdy, with Bro. Eldon Miller and Bro. Bill White officiating. Burial was in the Campbell Cemetery at Rowdy with the Porter and Son Funeral Directors in charge of funeral arrangements.
KENNETH RAY PITTMAN
Kenneth Ray Pittman, 66, of De Soto, TX, passed away July 21, 2005 in Texarkana, AR.
He was born January 14, 1939 in Beattyville, KY.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Pittman; step sons, Bill Adams of Plano, TX, Bob and wife Jeri Adams of De Soto, TX; grandchildren, Blake and Lindsay; mother, Elsie Pittman of Beattyville, KY; sisters, Mildred Drake, Geneva Pittman, Hannah Hogan all of Beattyville, KY, Carolyn Lamb of Penscola, FL.
Services for Kenneth Ray Pittman were held Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 2 p.m in the West/Hurst Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Fortenbury officiating. Burial was in the Wheatland Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
