OPHELIA EVANS MCGUIRE
Ophelia Evans McGuire, 87, of St. Helens, KY, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, KY.
She was born March 7, 1918 in Lee County, KY, the daughter of Charlie and Allie Cornett Evans. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are her husband George W. McGuire of St. Helens, KY; son, Michael McGuire of Shepherdsville, KY; grandsons, Scott McGuire, Jack McGuire and Greg McGuire all of Shepherdsville, KY; and one brother, Norman Evans of Hamilton, OH.
Graveside services for Ophelia McGuire were held Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the St. Helens Cemetery with Bro. L.C. Moore officiating. Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
SAM B. NEWMAN
Sam B. Newman, 70, of Erlanger, KY, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005 at his residence.
He was born October 28, 2005 in Lee County, KY, the son of Boren and Etta Dunaway Newman. He was an assembly line worker with General Motors.
Survivors are his wife, Ebbie Jean Fox Newman of Erlanger, KY; sister-in-laws, Gustava Cole (Mitchell) and Nettie Arkle (Al) all of Lexington, KY; brother-in-law, Ray Fox (Nancy) of Beattyville, KY; Aunt, Daisey Barrett of Georgetown, KY and special friend, Mary Erskin of Latonia, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, one brother, Eugene Newman and a nephew, Robert Newman.
Funeral services for Sam Newman were held Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jeff Porter officiating. Burial was in the Dunaway Cemetery with Newnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Mike Newman, Darryl Newman, Jason Newman, Ricky Fox, Mitchell Cole, Jr., and Gary Cole.
GARY LEE PETERS
Gary Lee “Boogerman” Peters, 53, of Highway 11, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at his residence.
He was born October 15, 1951, in Owsley County, KY, to the late Taylor and Edna (Moore) Peters. He was a self employed construction worker and attended the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include 1 son, Jesse “Boo” McIntosh of Booneville, KY; 2 daughters, Teresa LeAnn (& Kevin) Everman of Winchester, KY, and Karen Sue Peters of LA; and 3 grandchildren.
Other survivors include 4 brothers, Roy Peters of Vincent, KY, Willard Peters of Morgan County, KY, Harold Peters of Lower Buffalo, KY, and Taylor Peters, Jr. of Morgan County, KY; 1 sister, Ella Terry of Mt. Sterling, KY; and a host of friends and relatives.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Ralph Peters, and 1 sister, Karen Sue Peters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the Booneville Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening, at the funeral home, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Burial in the Moore Cemetery, Cow Creek, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
RICKY LYNN BRANDENBURG
Ricky Lynn Brandenburg, 45, husband of Mary (Wilson) Brandenburg, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005, at his residence.
He was born November 20, 1959, in Wolfe County, KY, to Callie (Fox) Brandenburg of Beattyville, KY, and the late Ance Brandenburg. He was a mechanic for Dunahoo Auto Sales, attended the Beattyville Assembly of God, and was an avid lover of horses and the UK basketball team.
Along with his wife of 28 years, he is also survived by 1 son, Ricky Lynn (& Loretta) Brandenburg, Jr. of Grand Junction, MI; 2 daughters, Tina (& Jeff) Hobbs of Beattyville, KY, and Rose Brandenburg of Lewisburg, TN; and 5 grandchildren; David Knox, Becca Hobbs, Benjamin and Dylan Brandenburg and Destiny Hurt.
Other survivors are 3 brothers, Glenn and Gary Brandenburg both of Booneville, KY, and Bubby Brandenburg of SC; 3 sisters, Linda Chrisman of Beattyville, KY, Rose Johnson of Grand Junction, MI, and Sheila McKinney of Booneville, KY; and a host of friends and relatives.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Willis and Curtis Brandenburg.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at the Booneville Funeral Home, with Pastor Frank Drake officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening, at the funeral home, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Burial in the Brandenburg Cemetery, South Fork, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
