FLORENCE S. DEATON
Florence S. Deaton, also known as “Aunt Toss”, widow of Roger Deaton, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, KY.
She was born March 9, 1920 in Breathitt County, KY, to the late W.G. and Dora (Begley) Stamper. She was a retired teacher for the Breathitt County Board of Education, a member of KEA and NEA, and attended the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Calvin Eash and Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Burial will be in the Shepherd Memorial Cemetery, Booneville, KY, with Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
ORVAL RAINES
Orval Raines, 80, of Beattyville, KY, passed away Friday, October 21, 2005 at his residence.
He was born October 20, 1925 in Lee County, KY, the son of Ernest and Maggie (Combs) Raines. He was an oil field worker and member of the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors are his wife, Francis Ruth Cole Raines of Beattyville, KY; two sons, James Earl (Shirley) Raines of Richmond, IN, Vernon Logan (Shannon) Raines of Heidelberg, KY; daughters, Opal Davidson of Palm Beach, FL, Phyllis (Hershel) Townsend, Shirley (Mike) McIntosh, Margaret (Gentry) McIntosh, all of Beattyville, KY; 33 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three children, Ernie Lee Raines, Drucilla McKinney and Orval Lee Raines.
Funeral services for Orval Raines were held Monday, October 24, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leonard Cole officiating. Burial was in the Church of the Living God Cemetery on Sipple Ridge Road.
Pallbearers were John McKinney, Jamie Warner, Bryan Warner, P.J. Cole, Vernon Raines and Chucky McIntosh.
JANICE SUE EVANS
Janice Sue (Cole) Evans, 62, widow of John E. Evans, passed away Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.
She was born February 2, 1943, in Lee County, KY, to the late Ted and Martha (Roach) Cole. She was a former caretaker, a homemaker and attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John E. Evans, Jr. of Georgetown, KY, and David Keith Evans of Beattyville, KY; four daughters, Tammy Dunaway and Debbie Powell, both of Georgetown, KY, and Fondia (& Danny) Hogan and Joann (& Billy Paul) Charles, both of Beattyville, KY; and two special nieces, Robin (& Mike) Phillips and Judy Cole; 12 grandchildren, David and Heath Dunaway, Bryan and LCPL Mitch Hogan, Brien, Joshua and Shawn Charles, John, Hope and Alexis Evans, Jordan Durbin and Amy Hogan; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services for Janice Sue Evans were held Monday, October 24, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with Eddie Isaacs officiating. Burial was in the Roach Cemetery, Beattyville, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer were Mikey and Travis Phillips.
