Lee County hosts Cal Ripken Regional Tournament

Lee County recently hosted the Cal Ripken youth Regional Tournament. The Lee County team made it to the championship game against Harrison County. -Harrison Defeats Lee for Title-
The Lee County Youth Sports organization played host to the Cal Ripken 9-10 year old Region 12 Tournament July 5-8. The Tournament consisted of teams from Lee County, Harrison County, Montgomery County, Clark County, Estill County and Bath County.
Harrison County advanced over Lee County Sunday afternoon 10-0 to move on to the Cal Ripken 9-10 Year Old State Tournament. Harrison defeated Montgomery County and Lee County to advance to the championship game, trailing only once the entire tournament.
Lee County defeated Bath County on Thursday night 10-1 in the opening round of play. Friday evening Lee bested Clark County 16-6 in four innings. Saturday’s game against Harrison ended in a 33-4 loss. Lee’s first game on Sunday was an extra inning 5-3 thriller over rival Estill County, putting Lee in the championship game against Harrison. In a hard fought game that was scoreless into the fourth inning, the team from Harrison rallied and went on to win in five innings.
